Me and my lady have been planning to start truck driving in the near future. We were originally going to team drive but she decided she didn't think she could handle it.

    So, I have two questions:

Can a person with an eye condition that impairs depth perception drive a truck?

If not, would any companies mind a person having a constant companion (who doesn't drive) in the cab?

It's my girl that lacks the depth perception - I'm just curious if she'll be able to drive so we can team drive in the future (hoping that spending time in the cab will build her confidence).

Most companies won't allow someone that isn't immediate family to ride. Now if you were married then there shouldn't be a problem as long as the company you are working for has a rider policy.

Good to know, hesgoneagain - we've been dating for about 4 years so marriage is in the future.

Medic, it's a movie reference (SLC Punk). The character Heroin Bob was called such ironically because he was deathly afraid of needles and was against drug use.

Heroin Bob is anti-drug... and then he died form an OD, lol. Good movie, though.

Again I say if she can not pass the DOT physical she will not be allowed to hold a CDL let alone drive a CMV.

Riders need company approval and insurance to ride; therefore, this is a question you should be asking your potential employers..

Do everything in your power to convince her to drive! You guys can make really killer money as a husband/wife team and I promise you it will be the greatest adventure of your lives.

Took me sometime but I convinced my wife to go otr and team. After eight short years we saved enough to buy our own horse training facility here in FL and do what she loves to do!

Check out my profile picts! Maybe they will help convince her!
