Exclamation What's the Scope on Barr Nunn trucking?

I am trying to find out more about the company so any drivers who can give me your feedback regarding this company would be great...I am doing this research to better define the differences between Crete and Barr Nunn...thanks.

Crete sounds good

I am a soon to be grad. (end of Feb '07). I have been doing alot of research on the different companies. So far Crete seems to be the best I have heard about, but they dont accept newbies from all schools. Just certain ones. Or 5 months experience. Barr Nunn? will look into it. Good luck to you. I am looking to work for the best, since I will be giving them alot of my life.

Also, Barr Nunn will let anyone over the age of six years ride with you in the truck. With Crete my b/f couldn't ride with me because we weren't married, Barr Nunn told me he could ride with me right after orientation if we wanted. I know, not a biggie for some folks, but since he is possibly interested in teaming with me someday after getting his cdl, I wanted him to ride with to get a taste of what he'd be up against before he went to the expense of getting the cdl. And no Opti Idle.

Do they advertise?

If they advertise a lot, they probably aren't worth going to work for. Ditto if they have large orientation classes every week.

On a business prospective point, advertising a companies benefits and jobs available does not make it a bad company to work for,i have seen the smallest to the biggest companies advertise this way. Just remember it is a great tax write off, ever wonder why?,the best companies always advertise too. if you don'r believe me,show or tell me one that you think does not advertise. The competition is great right now for good drivers and prospective newbees,as they are the best catch and have many years ahead of them in the trucking industry. What I am interested in ,is are the ads honest enough to apply and work for them. That is one of the greatest things about this forum, you can form a pretty close opinion of these deceptive ads,by the interest they generate to all of us.

I agree with you, but let me be more specific

Buck, I know you're right. All companies advertise at least a little bit. It helps companies make contact with (supposedly) the best employees, and it also helps keep current employees on short leashes.

Let me "narrow down" what type of advertising I'm talking about: The help-wanted ad variety. Understand I live in Salt Lake City, home to some of the worst companies around. Also know SLC is home to some of the best companies around, judging by the fact they never advertise and are harder than #### to get on with. Nearly impossible, in fact. This is because nobody ever quits these guys, so there are rarely any openings.

I'll let you figure out who advertised daily begging for drivers and who never did while I was plying the highways.

The rotten companies had to advertise how often? Just about every bloom-uhd day. That's because they always had openings as drivers quit 'em in droves.

After a little while being here, I figured out I wanted no part of companies that had help-wanteds in papers 364 days a year.

Know that of late, most of the companies who used to have "flower pot" help wanted ads have removed them from the Salt Lake Tribune. These guys have gotten smart and don't do that anymore. This is because we drivers have gotten smart and won't work for a company that advertises almost constantly.

BettyAnn/BARR-NUNN

Please stay clear of BARR-NUNN, they will lie to you decieve you, promise you the moon, It's nothing but a bunch of lie's. The owner of the company and the people in charge do not care about you or your family. If a driver recruiter or company recruiter approaches you, tell them to get lost. this is one lousy, sorry, good for nothing company. They are nothing but a human meat grinder with a revolving door. If you like paying your debts and making a living for your family or yourself, stay clear of BARR-NUNN.

Man, stay clear of BARR-NUNN. I worked for this sorry company for 2 years and they could care less about you or your family. They will lie and decieve to the "MAX", just to fill a drivers seat in one of their trucks. After 2 years of working with them and having to fight for every mile I got and almost going broke, I parted way's with them. Also, the owner and supervisiors could care less about you.
