Satellite TV

From a newbie - anyone familiar with setting up satellite tv in your vehicle?

Cost? Does it work?

Thanks!

There are a few ways to mount it on the truck,Some mount a piece of PVC pipe on there mirror and keep the put the dish on when they want to watch TV,others mount it on the grab bar on the back of the sleeper. It takes a couple of time to get good at pointing the dish in the right direction but with practice comes longer time to watch TV

Just curious – any idea what it would cost/month (service, not equipment)? Something around $60-70/month?

I was old school and never upgraded higher than qualcom! Seems to me that it is getting worse out there all the time. If you were to mount this on a PVC pipe on your mirror and dozed off what is to keep some yard bird from stealing your dish?

I used to have mine mounted there and never had a problem, just make sure you don't leave it there if your going to be gone from the truck for long periods of time

It's up too high to reach from ground, I had it mounted where I could barley reach it standing on the steps. Make sure you stay within 96" width from one side of truck to PVC pipe.

Also if you have Direct TV at home you just tell them you are putting it in another room and I think it's just $4.00 more. Other wise they will charge you full price.

It's no different than having a second or third receiver at home. Some people take them to the cottage or camping, so no reason why you can't take one trucking with you. You can even get the permanent mobile set-ups that people put on RV's that let people in the back watch while moving, although this is expensive, and not really worth it for team drivers where the non-driving person should be sleeping.
