wannabe with bad background I have been trying to find a trucking job for about 6 months now. I live in TN and graduated school with a cdl back in july 2011. As I said I couldn't find a job. So now I'm back in cdl school again so I can get the recent grad label again and I will graduate in a couple weeks. I have a felony 12 years old, a misdemeanor 3.5 years ago, 1 ticket and 1 at fault accident that are 2 years old. I just want to find an over the road job and i'm having no luck. I don't think my record is that bad but noone will hirehire me. I'm desperate and don't want to run out of time again. Swift, covenant, all star transportation, just to name a few, all said no. I JUST WANT A CHANCE TO START THIS
CAREER. PLEASE HELP!!!Last edited by Bobcat 79; 02.04.2012 at 08.32 AM. Reason:: spelling

Man if you can't get on with those BFI's you will probably have to drive a gravel truck for a while, then go OTR.

Try to find an O/O looking for second seat driver. Not sure if that is even viable but it can't hurt to try.

I beleive that your at fault accident is not far enough in the past. I may be wrong but if I remember right most if not all BFI'S wanted to know how many tickets and accidents you had in the last 3 years some wanted 5 years. So depending on how far out that is that is what is hurting you right know. If you wait to long to get a job after getting your cdl most companies will want you to take a refresher course. That time is different with companies .

Its the felony, most companies want no felonies ever. I feel that is what is holding you back. The misdemeanor also depending on the charge. Good luck. Probaly won't be able to go to the bfi's either. Your case smaller would probaly e better. Good luck

Have you tried craigslist? There are a lot of driving jobs listed on there.

Be creative. A recruiter doesn't have the power to hire you. You won't get hired through the normal avenues with the felony on your record.
