So I've been issued an automatic last Saturday. Sometimes when I'm taking awhile to back and having trouble getting into a hole the display screen well say "CA". When that shows up I barely can get it to move and when it does move it moves bit by bit while the truck, trailer and me bounces around crazy left to right. What is this CA thing and am I doing something wrong and causing this?

What is the make/model of truck? Might help in looking for an answer to your problem.

Ok I've been searching for an answer and the only thing I can come up with is somehow, while you back you are tearing a hole in the space-time continuum and your trailer is being pushed through to CA (California) and your truck is trying to warn you and stop because that's the last place it wants to be. If its not that then I'm not sure what it is.

Your just trying to change directions too quickly, allow a few seconds so the computer can catch up.

I've only driven one in CDL school. It was a KW T2000, and if you did not pause in neutral when shifting from Drive to Reverse, it would not want to move. I don't recall any "CA" error message. Sometimes we would have to shut the truck off and restart it to get it to finally shift into reverse.

The "CA" could be an error message thrown from the Smarta$$ sensor. If so it could mean "Come-on Already, you're taking too long". If you take longer than 5 minutes, it will trigger an alarm, flashing all your lights, and sounding the horn. This is to draw the attention of all the other drivers so they can start making fun of you on the CB..

    Found this:
    Ultrashift Diagnostics
    Clutch Protection Fault
Excessive clutch slippage creates heat and reduces
the life of the clutch. These are some conditions
    which lead to clutch abuse:
    · Using the throttle to hold the vehicle on a
    grade
    · Starting the vehicle in too high a gear
    · Overloading the vehicle
    · Using high idle with the vehicle in gear
The UltraShift DM TCU is programmed to prevent
clutch abuse. When the clutch overheats, the following
    alerts take place:
    · The TRANS TEMP light comes on
    · The current gear indicator displays CA
    · A warning tone sounds at one-second intervals
The alerts continue until the clutch cools, the throttle
is released, or the clutch is fully engaged.

found it here www.crengland.com/content/servicecenter/pdf/cascadia.pdf on page 143 Hope it helps.

Well those all seem like reasonable solutions. Maybe I was wrong about tearing the fabric of time...

This is correct(thanks Jab for the info). I looked it up also in the book the company I drive for gave us when we got our autos. CA=Clutch Abuse.
