    Good Average Mile Pay?

What is a good average mileage pay per mile? Being that I will be new at this I saw on the site for starters it is .18 cents a mile.
Is that low or average for a newbie?
How does this compare to other places and what will be down the road, thanks.

Are you talking about team or solo?

I wouldn't take anything less than .30 to start.

I have never seen anything as low as .18 for solo to start. I think maybe you looked at Prime Inc training pay it's either 600 per week or .18 whichever is more while you are out with a trainer.

This is starting out with them first as a team (with trainer) then solo. It says on their site .18 per mile for the first year. Then it is .28 after that if I am readin that correctly.

Starting Mileage Rate 12 1/2 cpm

I assume the 12.5 cents is for the trainee (you) in the beginning (mentor phase). I also assume this would apply to ALL miles the truck ran. However, I understand trainers are supposed to operate the truck as if it was solo, so you may only get paid for the 22k to 30k miles per week the truck can run, as if it were ran by ONE driver only. If you could make 12.5 cents for your miles, and the trainers miles and the truck ran 4-5k miles/week that would not be too bad, but I suspect this won't be the case.

But, the big question, is how long will it take you to become proficient enough to where they feel safe in putting you in your own truck, or is there a minimum mentoring time/mileage requirement?

If you are going to be paid only a max of .18 inside the first year, and assuming the last 7-9 months you are serving the company well as a solo driver, you are getting screwed.

I assume your going solo. It varies, but the lowest I heard when looking for jobs was 26 cpm. I took a job thats going to pay 33 cpm. Another thing to look into is how many miles you'll be getting. Some companies that don't offer as good cpm might be getting you more miles. So just do your research.

Ah that makes some sense to me if that is the case. Im looking to go solo after the training is done with the trainer for sure.
Now if it is there policy where at times you are team up once in awhile or right after you branch off your trainer (for maybe a couple of months) then you split the mileage with your partner I would guess?

The fry guy at McD's is making more then this, and is home every night.

For where you live I wouldnt think of driving for less then 32 cpm. That is the lowest I would go.

You have to remember, your going to give up your private life and live in a truck. Does .18 a mile at no more then 3200 (more like 2500 to 2800) miles a week sound good to you?

I am in Schneider Orientation with 30+ people in Green Bay right now (many rookies) and Schneider started pretty much all of us at .29/mile and that's solo. If you got offered .18/mile for solo, I would make a 180 and run.
