I lined up all the ducks for the local CC cdl program but its swamped until August -

I have learners in hand - and passed below endorsements for Delaware

General knowledge, air brakes, combos, haz mat, tanker

I wanted to know if I went with the major /mill option how does utilizing all these endorsements and learners benefit me ?

I dont necessarily need to retest so what is the process for gettig the cdl with mill school in another state and transferring to the home state to be credited with the extras ?

Do they send you home to transfer the cdl earned to your home state or what ?

Yes, I didnt call a recruiter YET!

MY last involvement with a recruiter was joining the marines and some may know how that goes . And yes they got me good. for 3 yrs...

    Figured checking here first.

Also my old stomping grounds were in Wilmington Nc would like to pass through there and this central Delaware location on occasion to see the folks where I claim residency for now. Or keep all my plastic containers of belongings because No place is home for me which I like anyway.

So between newby recruitment companys - I got Prime, Swift,USAtruck, running adds for this state and most likely coastal NC maybe others of course ?

I see some companys split regions of Northeast Southeast West etc so dont want those restrictions. So curious what anyone can volunteer ?

    Thanks in advance !

Did you call up veteran's affairs and ask if they can line you up with a different program nearby?

They pulled in veterans from 30 miles around to the CC I went to, and paid all their fuel expenses, the tuition, and even a small stipend for food during the course.

No, havent pursued VA got honorable served in Lebanon in 80's but dont qualify for any percs. Burned em up attending the Diesel Inst. of America in Cheverly for mechanic many years ago. Got out of the grease and went with the mud after a few years. Mud washes off easier and paid the same.

A Maryand CC cdl college (nearest 40ml~) is not registering Delaware residents for their program. I was told it only prepares their students for the MD. Cdl driving requirements.

Then there are a few private schools up in Northern De. . Is nt worth the cost of personal commute and housing. May as well wait it out here (run pizza s or flip a few burgers ) or go to a mill with reimbursement.

Is Cecil College in Elkton, MD the school to which you are referring? They take Delaware and Pennsylvania residents - in fact the Delaware air brake test is in their workbook since it's different than MD. I just finished there last week and would recommend them. Maybe the drive is too far for you though - the classroom is in North East, MD and the range is near Port Deposit, MD. Their number is 410-287-1615 (Rebecca), in case you do not already have this information.

    Best of luck.

Check into Roehl, they run their own school, a good one at that, you can run all 48 with them, and the school is cheap if you don't stay with them and pay out of pocket.

It was Chesapeake CC and said they would not take Delaware residents at this time.

I would have to foot non-resident and housing for anything further away so figured the better option would be go with a major carrier reimbursement.

    Thanks for response though

In my opinion, Prime might be a good choice for you. They seem to have the best training pay, and a great hands-on training program.

If you're really wanting to earn some cash, you could look into the oilfield jobs. You could probably go right to work for a large outfit like Halliburton maintaining frac pumps since you have the mechanical training and experience. Once you get in with them, you may be able to move to a CDL driving position.

Turning 50 in March and looking for drop n hook strategy right now...

Lots of changes in LA (Leland) eh !?

I lived behind the Wallys on 17 in Hunterstone for ~5yrs

My dads recovering from hip surgery on Feb 9th and once he can stagger around a little easier Im hitting the road... Hopefully 1 month.

Was trying to go to school March 5 and rollout late spring but with with school filled weighing alternatives.

Maybe they ll build that new port in Southport and I ll be back...

Still dont want to pay those NC income taxes maybe not :biggrin_25512::biggrin_25517:

    Thanks Mike

Yeah, I'm not happy about the state income tax rate.

CFCC classes are starting on the 27th; Monday the 20th is the last day to register and they still have room. Unfortunately, out of state tuition is almost $4k :( I just registered and it cost me a little over $1k for tuition, books and supplies.

And LA is a WHOLE lot different than what you probably remember. They just fired the police chief after a huge scandal and shook up town management - and I'm thinking that criminal charges are not far behind.
