Schneider will not train CT residents - Truckers' Trucking Forum | Message Board

I called the Schneider 800 number and finally got an "associate" woman who told me flat out they will not accept Connecticut residents in their CDL school out in Carlisle, PA. Something about not having testing agreements with CT DMV.

Frankly, this is BS. Schneider has a north east region, and I see orange trucks on I-84 every day. Where the heck do these drivers live? All in PA? I was sure I read somethng on Scneider's website about how easy it was to train in their school and go back to your home state for the final CDL exam and license, using a Schneider truck which they will provide. I feel lied to.

The lady said, "You'll have to find a CDL school in Connecticut." Not in a million years would I pay $4,000 to attend the local CDL mills.

i don't see any reason why the people at schnieder would lie to you. if its the policy requiring a state testing agreement, then so be it. maybe what you ought to do is complain to your state's secretary of state office and see what their response will be. it looks like you may have to spend some money, or try another trucking company..........

I asked about this when I went to school.
Schools are no longer accepting out-of-state licensees. Seems like there should be some exceptions to this, but I am told "no".
$4,000 for your own education? That's cheap.
It's going to cost you pretty near that anyway. Schneider ain't going to train you for free; you'll have to work at a reduced wage to pay it back and you dare not quit because they will - righfully, I feel - bill you for the cost of school.

I forked over the 3600 in 2005, and I'm proud of it. In fact, when the company hired me they told me that the fact that I had paid for my own schooling was a factor in their decision. Don't know if that was true or not, but that's what the guy said. In 2006 they paid me $56,000.
