Frankly, I never did. They get paid for what they do. The only "tipping" I will do, and at a mere 20% of the bill, would be to the waitress, and even that is only if she doesn't ignore me, and keep my coffee cup filled.

It actually irks me to no end, the amount of tipping people think they must do for a job well done. Those "tip jars" at the donut shop?? I totally ignore them, as they get paid "at least" minimum wage.

I have yet to receive such a tip myself, after what, 25 years of doing my job well??

Do as you wish, but to me, you ain't gonna see that person ever again (in most instances), why spend money on someone like that, who gets paid "at least" minimum wage, over say a waitress, which many times, works HARDER for the mere pittance of a daily wage??

The only tip I ever got was when I installed chains on a 4-wheeler near Mammoth on highway 395.

"tipping" the coaches amounts to bribing them to give your kids more field time. That's all that amounts to. SO the teams lose several games, or the playoff's, and you think they deserve money from you for that??

The mailman/gal get a GREAT wage, and benefits package, and you tip this??

Kids coaches take time out of their daily lives to help kids for FREE. Its not what I would call a tip as much as I would call it apprecation for their time. Thje parents would give say $10 and pool the money and buy a nice gift for ALL the coaches.
Has nothing to do with winning, losing or playoffs

Yeah i believe in tipping the guys in the wash bays. Used to have a pretty nice Pete and when i stopped at Little Sisters those guys remembered me. I'm sure they do not make a big wage. As far as the mail person,i figure they earn their money, nobodies just giving it to them. I figure anybody who has been doing this a while should be making say $1000.00-$1500.00 a week or more, give or take. So how hard is it to spread the wealth? There's a saying that goes you have to give it away to keep it. Just my opinion!

As a former waitress that struggled to put myself through college and raise two kids on my own I believe in tipping the waitress, and the bartender. I understand doing a good job I am either 100% or nothing. But as far as all the tip jars everywhere I agree with Gizmo man. People want tips for doing there jobs and I just dont think thats right. The other day I went to a burrito fast food joint and there was actually a tip jar for the person taking my order. They did not come to the table or bring me the food it was actually no different then ording at McDonalds. Waitresses on the other hand make 3.65 per hour nowhere near min. wage and they work hard trust me we do. I always felt that I only deserved a tip for good service. So I personally went out of my way for any customer. I met alot of truckers that to this day am friends with as well as alot of different people. As far as tipping for your truck being washed that is a personal decision. I wouldn't and I know my husband doesn't but he does tip (mostly because I trained him well, he didn't when we first met)but a tip is for good service and if a waitress is not doing her job she should not get a tip just because she is waitress.

It don't matter how much I earn for example, but tell you what, I EARNED IT and I'm not "giving it away". If someone wanted MORE money(??), then they ought to go out and get a BETTER JOB.

I never heard of such a stupid saying as, " you have to give it away to keep it."

You called it "tipping" in your previous posted, I know, I bold/underlined it for you so you can see what you said.

now you are doing an "about face" and calling it "appreciation"??

you and the other parents can "appreciate" what the coaches do by telling them, "thank you for your time, see you next year"..

    nuff said.
