one year of driving experience in order to obtain a CDL.
I recieved a withheld judgment on a DUI in 1999. My license was suspended and I can get it back at anytime by paying the fee too the state Of Idaho to have my driving privileges reinstated.

I want to get my CDL for the first time and start OTR.

My question is once I get my regualr drivers license back do I have to wait one year before I can get my CDL? On the Idaho DMV website is says "one year of driving experience in order to obtain a CDL."

I definitely have a lot more than one year driving experience but none since 1999. Do I have to wait one year to get my CDL or would my driving prior to 1999 count as my one year driving experience?

On a good note my driving record is clean

will it be impossible to get a Trucking Job or will it just limit my options too a few of the bottomfeeding companies?

You should be fine. The DUI was what, over 8 years ago, and you've had a clean record since?! I don't see a problem. However, if you have to start with a less-than-honorable company, then turn your tragedy into triumph.

Go ahead and drive for a few months, but continue to keep your driving record clean, while applying for other companies at the same time. Remember, no more DUI's! Your CDL is how you feed yourself and your family. Don't mess it up! Good Luck!

he has a clean record i think because he hasn't been driving since then.
isn't that what you are saying?

Yes that is correct.

I did learn that CR England requires you to have a regular drivers license for 3 years.

I did find a local company that does agricultural work that would be willing to hire me.

Drinking and driving in a regular vehicle is bad enough, but if you are driving a semi and DUI, I think that's just totally irresponsible and you need to get "off the bottle".........one semi can do a great deal of damage and result in excessive carnage I might be stating the obvious, but sometimes it's necessary to remind others of their limitations, whether they be physical or emotional.
