Girlfriend has considered us to move to Texas instead of OTR. Been looking at the San Antonio area for the city setting and more available housing. Any other places to consider? Seems like West Texas has limited housing available but they do seem to hire new drivers. Any companies and areas to consider that would hire a newbie with tanker and hazmat?

Longview/Kilgore Area, many pockets between Abilene and Fort Worth, Gainesville ... It's probably easier to name the areas where there is NOT oil/gas development going on. Oklahoma is also booming but there's state income tax there. San Antonio is a great "big city". Grew up there, semi-retired due to business there, and you can perhaps find some driving work there in San Antonio proper but most of the energy work is south and east of the city by 50-200 miles.
