Showers
Well new to the boards and I have allot of questions. Like allot of others that are posting here I to am considering a career change. I guess my first question is 1. Is it really that hard to get a shower on the road daily. 2. Any comments on CFI, was thinking Star until I saw the poll. 3. Free time is there such a thing with this line of work other then the time at the wheel which in my eyes is the work of the job. Thats all for now thanks in advance I have many more but don't want to come on with to many questions.

I Have Not Started Working Yet...but What I Have Heard Is Showers Cost 5 Or 6 Bucks....but You Can Get Points On Your Fuel Card WHEN YOU FILL UP That Will Allow You To Pay For Showers With That For Free......second....you Can Only Drive 11 Hours In A Day....so Therefore You Have 13 Hours To Yourself To Wind Down And Sleep.

Thats right. You can only drive 11, but work up to 14. Most companies have fuel networks and give you a fuel card that allows you to get fuel at one of the stops in their network. Most of these truck stops will give you another card that will allow you to accrue points, which can add up allowing you to buy lunch or articles out of their store. The card also keeps up with the amount of fuel you get. You get a free shower with 50 gallons of fuel and some stops, 75 gal. at others. Most of these expire after a period.
