The school I am at told me wed be learning auto and stick. Well they didn't inform me until it was driving time that the stick truck has been broken for months. So now we won't learn it. They said its been broke for a while but neglected to tell us. When I confronted them about the false advertising they told me learning stick is a perk and since I don't need to know it to get my cdl they don't have to teach it and I can't do anything about it. Just like I was promised all these driving hours, but only get 1hour MAX a day and only have 4 weeks total of school. 1 wk was rushed class rm. Teacher wasn't even in the room and it was cut to half days. Then 2 weeks of parking (takes 2 wks because 4hrs a day is split between 6 people) and 1 week driving the same route we will be tested on. Once you hit your 4th week they can kick you out. I tried telling them they voided their contract with me. I'm having SO many issues with this. The school just gets rude with me when I say they are ripping me off and I have no clue who to go to next to report this. BBB? Workforce commission?

To the op, if you are driving a school bus, don't worry about it because you are going to be driving a school bus. -
I guess there's nothing I can do. Ugh.

I drive a auto smart shift freightliner. Love it. Yeah I can drive a mt but I prefer this auto. Makes my day just that much easier. Been in snow, rain, ice, mud and it does just fine. Pulling a tanker it does kinda get confused if a surge hits at the right time but some throttle control and it's back under control and zooming down the road.

Am I able to rent one to practice on once I get my cdl?
-
How much does a rental typically cost? I might just have to do that. I can dive a manual car but I know a truck is different
-
What school teaches on automatic?
-
One of the first questions I asked before I signed up for cdl school was if they used manual trucks. Why in the world would you even consider limiting yourself to an automatic? Also why in the world would a school in charge of teaching new truckers not know this? Of course $$$$$ is always involved

not sure that 62-64 mph is zooming down the road but the rest of your post prob helped the op out even if it is an old thread.hey,i posted too.
