So i took my cdl skills test friday in Indiana and made it to the parallel parking a rig and trailer with 15 feet extra to put it in the hole. I could not get it in the lines to save my life. As of 2007 indiana changed the parallel test from only the trailer to trailer and tracktor. I want to know what idot changed it and wtf he was smoking apperently he has never bin in a rig.
How many times have you (truck drivers) had to parallel park your rig?

My guess is it shouldnt be a requirement to pass, you just would have to attempt it.

Parallel parking in atruck stop may not be all that common but it is necessary to learn how to do it. City streets, curbing the truck to run into a shipper, all sorts of places where it is needed
-
the examiner told me he drove for 35 years and never had to parallel park
-
theirs only like 4 states that require the tracktor and the trailor to be parallel park wtf is up with that
-
that is it i am never moving from NJ the thought of taking all those tests again sucks talking your way thru a pretrip with the right words for DMV is a lot harder then doing a pretrip
-
pre trip is gravy i missed 1 out of 115 on the walk around 0 on the in cab and 0 on the air brake test

Easy for me, but I've got many years doing it. You'll do it in a truckstop that has curb parking, like the Pilot in Avondale, Az., or, in Queens, N.Y. with just one space available for miles around. Or, in my case, many times doing LTL in the big city (San Diego) needing to park to make my delivery. You see your space, make a mental image, and put 'er in there.
