Teams will average 5000-7000 miles a week. Most companies expect their teams to run 1000 a day.
Usually the larger companies are better for team driving. More trailers=more drop and hooks=more miles=more money!
Team driving is very tough! You have to be a real hustler! I absolutely do not recommend team driving if you have a spouse or family! You also want to find a co-driver that lives relatively close by to you. Otherwise when you do have the occasional time at home it will be a nightmare! Make sure that you really love your co-driver and can get along through the thick and thin. Another high priority in choosing a co-driver is to make sure they are a #### good driver. Your life is literally in their hands while you are sleeping!

ok I have another question after training how much per mile can a team expect to make initially and how much in a year or so?

Talked with an ex-fedex driver who said he woke up after being bounced awake to find the truck doing 65 in the grass median. The co-non-driver asleep in the driver seat.
He pulled both brakes and the driver wakes up saying, "What are you doing!"

.17 - .26 a mile. Your best bet is to pair up with an experienced driver who already has seniority at a company. Two newbies running team won't make as much as a team with an experienced driver. Plus it would be awhile before you had enough experience and learned enough to be able to run 7000 miles week. You will kind of get a taste of teaming when you are with your trainer. Something else to keep in mind, you may want to lean toward a reefer company. You have a lot more options for freight pulling a reefer. Anything refrigerated plus anything dryvan. This will allow you to keep moving. Like I said before too, aim for larger companies, larger companies that have a lot of trailers allow you to do more drop and hook.
Just noticed where you live too! Definitely want to consider reefer! You live in a produce hotspot! Swinging by the house for a bit will be more viable.

Ok newbie here again.
My wife and I are considering team driving but we dont want to be slaves to some big company [if possible] so any suggestions for good companys on the west coast. We live in napa ca about 40 m from san fran and 50 m from sac. we would prefer getting home at least bi weekly. Any suggestions and info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. -
Find another career!
You aren't going to get home bi-weekly as a team! Nor would you make any money if you did!
Companies like husband/wife teams because they have no real needs to go home. Its really tough to make any kind of money if you aren' t staying out for at least a month at a time.
I really think you should reconsider driving team over the road. I'm not sure you know what you are getting into. Teams, especially husband/wife teams run 7000 miles a week! Most companies expect their teams to do 1000 miles a day. It is very, very, very hard work! Yes the money is awesome but you really need to be a hustler if you want to be a good team. Teaming isn't touring around the country doing the sight seeing thing. Loads are much more time sensitive and no matter what must get there on time. This means whether you are sick, weather is bad, traffic, etc... you must keep on truckin!
Maybe do a little more investigating before making any decisions. I would hate to see you waste a lot of time and money only to find out its not what you expected it to be.
