Around here, Sideling Hill has a very bad reputation, as does the Allegheny range.

i traveled the "sandstone" mountian on I-64 many times, more than any other mountain i can think of right now. it can be so bad, there are lights mounted into the white line and yellow line along the roadway up/down that mountain.

The last company I worked for always warned drivers (via qualcomm) to BEWARE!! Elk mountain,WY, and Showshoe,PA. Now, I have only crossed one in moderate snow (snowshoe), and I could see how it could be treacherous in bad conditions, but otherwise neither seemed overly dangerous.
Donner is another one that I hear people talking about, but if they were talking about US50, I didn't realize it. I have only ran over it along I-80.

And, how could I forget, I-17 coming south out of Flagstaff AZ. I have driven this and didn't think much of it.

I was going to say something along those lines. far as Interstates go there really isn't any "horrible" mountains anymore, Unless you go off the Interstate and hit some of the 2 lane roads then you will find some pretty interesting driving. I remember running with my dad the Utah and Cal back then, those day were tough and the crappy trucks back then without all this new technology ( far as breaking goes) that was a little scary at times back in those days.
