I spoke with a carrier a number of years ago that told me that there are some who will take drugs over the weekend just prior to going to orientation when they know that they will be taking a drug test on the first day.

Had that happen with some students at my school. 3 of them got their CDL on a Friday and were scheduled for orientation the next Monday. They went out and smoked some pot over the weekend to "celebrate." And they all got kicked out of orientation on Monday. Guess they just wanted to spend over $5000 on a shiny useless piece of plastic.

My question is how do I get to a concentra in a 70' truck? The ones in memphis have no where even close to legally park a truck. If you call a cab to come get you, be prepared to not get to concentra in that 2 hour window. Notoriously late cabs around here.

So I gets call while traveling down I-55 thru MS I'm about half way between Memphis and Jackson. So about and hour and half either direction. Doubt there are many concentras between them. But probably a couple. But not many placed to park a truck. Now I need to find a t/s or Walmart. Find a way to the clinic. And then pee in a cup. Yea I bet this could be fun

Now to clarify I have no problem with taking a drug or alcohol test at any time. I'll pass. I would hate to lose my job because of bad luck and timing. Trying to be inside the two hour window.

That's why they call us truck drivers. Not loosers who can't figure out how to get there.

exactly what difference is whether goverment paid for schooling or not. A person that doesnt belong in the buisness doesnt belong no matter how they got thier license. I see people everyday in the TS that dont belong out here. Truck next to me had beer cans under the drives wonder where they came from

Maybe some of us don't like our tax money wasted funding training to schools where 90% of the graduates will not have a job in the industry a year later .

I would bet money those 3 did not pay for school out of their own pockets but the WIA (WorkForceInvestmentAct) or the tax payers flipped the bill. When I payed for my school awhile back I'd say more than half the class was there on the WIA program, some said they never planned on driving but they were basically being payed to be there none the less.

I have to agree, but someone who is going to pay out of their own pocket has alot more to lose and would be wasting their time and money if their not going to take it seriously. Plus random drug testing has been going on in allot of places not just trucking and its been a problem everywhere.

Hurleygirly usually the first day of orientation if it isn't done when you get your DOT physical. My suggestion is like everyone else here is don't do dope or anything the Feds consider a nono. Pot and most of the nono drugs stay your system for days if not longer depending how heavy of a user you are.
