| I know of Heart Land but you have to have 1 yr exp to get in the door. I know you can make more doing per mile but budgeting is easier with a known number. Schneider has it set so if you cannot meet the said base weekly pay going with the per mile they will pay you the base weekly. If anyone knows of other companies out there please post it here. and if they are South east area thats a plus for me Sorry put this in wrong section please move for me . | When you go to school and the recruiters come, ask about line haul jobs hauling tandems from one facility - or drop - to the next. Those guys might as well be salaried. They make the same run over and over. Paycheck should be real steady. And they go home every day. |

I'd personally be nervous to drive a truck for salary. I guess if u had a contract to detailed everything from hours of work to if you work over those hours what you'd get paid as well as excactly what your duties include. It might work but like a few drivers have said thats more local drivers. I know i've seen a couple of ads for companies saying they will guarentee you a certain amount but ofcourse there is fine print. For example I talk 2 one driver that worked for a company that offered that and he was telling me that for example; his truck broke down and had to sit for a week or like this winter getting stuck for 3-5 days in a snow storm the company wont pay because apparently it is a act of nature. They quite often will only stand by it if they dont have a load for example. Just something to think about.

Some of the trucking companies leased to walmart are paying like 1000 plus uaranteed drivers pay,my company had it but I think ryder has lewiston me. now, It runs from wed thru sunday and you have mon and tues off,I never went for that. Not sure how the others are setup though. If anyone lives in maine or ma,pa,nj.,Pep Transport, flat beds out of gardiner me, pays you by the mile on your hubometer, pays you to strap, unstrap, tarp untarp on each stop, even on multiples, pays you to drop trailer, hookup trailer etc,one of my boys work there, been there 5 or 6 years now,160.00 holiday pay,1 ct a mile safety bonus etc.,I was there for two years but getting older to tarp and untarp, but flatbedding is good for you. Only drawback is paid every two weeks, electronic logs,You can find them under E J Presscott or Pep transport. They will train you from school,my son has trained some there too.

This dates back a while, but there was a company, pulled reefers, that had a $750 guarantee. Can't remember the name of it, but I think it was three letters and started with a K. This was back around 2002-2003, not sure if it is even still an offer of their or not. Wish I could remember the name of the company.

In my area there are LTL comapys that pay a salary. But I would caution you to go this way of payment. You can sometimes drive or work more hours than you will get paid for. Sort of like working for free.
