I was offered it during orientation but declined. I looked at it like the plans offered at non driving jobs. A rip off scam. Hardly needed and when used really did not save much money once you factored in the dues paid.

After consideration and stories read on this site I'm starting to reconsider. Now I am not a speeder (like its possible in my truck) but crap happens. I try my best to always drive safe. I always pre trip but am paranoid I'm going to miss something one day and that's the day I get chosen for an inspection. Lol

So taking my paranoia into consideration, is it worth the couple dollars a week (can't remember the price or name of who my company offered)? Would it be better to talk with some of the prepaid outfits I see at truck stops? Go with my company? Any suggestions on which prepaid to go with? Should I trust I'll do my best out here and just pay for legal rep if I ever need it? I know the prepaid plans basically give me advice and offer a discount if I need to actually retain a lawyer.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

I signed up, just in case.
It's only around $15 per month and who knows, it may pay off sometime.

Of course, I won't really know until I need to use it.

    It's a joke.

15 to 30 dollars a month. Figure out how many tickets you get, at 30 dollars a month if you get one ticket every 3 years that's 1000 dollars and that doesn't include accrued interest. Even at 15 dollars that's 540 dollars.

If you get a ticket good luck on getting a good lawyer, they farm it out to a green attorney and your going to loose. You would be better off going in yourself.

540 to 1000 will get you a really nasty attorney in traffic court, I wouldn't buy insurance.

If your getting more the one ticket every 3 years you need to work on your driving habits.

After 20 years out here, I recently also signed up because I've read in Landline about some of the states now charging out ragous amounts on tickets if you get on a truck restricted route. I hear OKlohoma fines car be over a thousand dollars.
Ten years ago, one could fight a ticket for 3-4 hundred dollars, now some tickets are 5-8 times that.
Though I also think we are now paying monthly the same lawyers who probably caused the fines to go so high.
IF one drives enough, your odds are pretty high of getting caught in a bear trap.
Used to be good driving and common sense would keep you out of trouble out here. Now to many people wanting to sue everybody, expecially the big trucks.

Pre paid legal isn't going to do much in a lawsuit, your going to loose. Now a 3 million dollar insurance umbrella for 400 a year will get you the A team of lawyers.

some companies of that kind of plan, I know my company does for like 2 bucks a week. There are alot of drivers who haved used this service and like it. I guess it makes it easier to appear in court whie your working.. I can see using it.

I think I have "Drivers Legal".

It is about $1.50 for me per week and I added my wife in her personal vehicle for another dollar.

Lots of stories about speeding tickets reduced to parking tickets. You pay more for the lawyers, and the full speeding ticket fines, but nothing goes on your driving record! As long as there was no reckless driving type violations all the municipality wants is the money.

In essence you are prepaying for a lawyer in the hopes you get an in accident or get a speeding ticket. I have used them a few times only to pay lots of money and get no results. Its really up to the individual but personally I have found it to not be worth it. If you do get a ticket or in an accident you can hire them just the same for a few extra bucks for when you actually need them. Unless you want the free hat and sticker they give you.

Exactly, it's cheaper in the long run to save some money and if you need to pay for a good one. Even if it costs a little more at least you will get a good lawyer. By the time Pre paid legal takes their cut how much do you think the lawyer going to court for you is making? Not enough to go in prepared and fighting, maybe 150 dollars on the outside?

You get what you pay for and by the time pre paid legal takes their cut and gives your case to a desperate lawyer you don't get much.

I don't think you will find to many people that will have anything good to say about it, unless they've never used it or they sell it.
