What they want.....is drivers with clean records. To, hopefully, drive their safety scores down, to help them obtain more and better freight contracts. As someone said, Prime has APUs, Inverters, and will let you take your under 35# pet after training, and after you hand them $1000 pet deposit. Some of it has to be up front, the rest is taken out of your check on a weekly basis.

I think he is talking about the 'dues' because once you get your license and hire onto a company and stay with them for 6+ months you'll figure out what we are talking about. Most of us have been there done that. Most new drivers go to what we all call "bottom feeders". Those are the companies that usually hire a lot of students every month/year and treat their drivers like crap. Usually only keep the new drivers 6 months to a year until they find something else and move there...

dragontamerbrat and Green Machine, thanks for that....I do understand, but I really don't wanna change jobs every year or so, I would rather stay with the same company, thats why I'm looking
for what I want initially, so I can hopefully stay there.

I'll check into PRIME, but I hear a lot of bad reviews about them......I guess I just need to research them.....thanks!

But just for my own edification, i'm not looking for local, or to stay in Florida or regional, primarily OTR 48 states or more.

Now that we got all that outta the way.......anybody that knows of any companies that allow pets, have APU's and Inverters let me know.........that's all I'm interested in, so thanks to you guys that
can help me out with any of that. Anybody that tells me there is not a company like that need not answer, thanks anyway, I'm just looking for the companies that do offer those.
Really not a tough question.....now what did I do with my CAPTAIN MORGAN/COKE AND POPCORN?!?

I don't think the OP understands WHY they are always hiring. it's not because of demand needs, it's because of HUGE quit/fire rates (turnover). I'm sure there are a FEW companies out there that hire recent CDL grads with those requirements and I hope he finds them and can get approved and through their OTJ training phase. I just hope he doesn't jump into a lease program as a means to include his dog in his job. That would potentially be disastrous.

bigdipper im sorry to say but the other guys are right. I'm not trying to rain on your parade or talk bad about you or anyone else but for a newbie like me and you to be looking for a company like your looking for just wont happen. Yes companies are looking for drivers but they dont have the things that your looking for. i wont say the company i drive for but i gaurantee they dont have at least one or two of those things that you demand. I would say that until you have at least a year or more experience that you shouldnt be so picky if you really want to make it in this business

Buy your own truck and start your own company. You could have a fridge, apu, pet, and inverter in it and everything.

    ...yup

Thanks Rugerfan, I appreciate that, but this job is no different than any other as far as getting hired. On every job interview I had my requirements just as they did.

hehehe.....that's funny! So PRIME is one, right? So it is possible. I appreciate the comments/advice and I'm sure ya'll know a lot more about this than me.......I've just never been one to bounce around
from company to company and I don't really want to start now, that's why I'm picky, I guess. I know there are companies out there with low turnover rates, and those would be preferred.
The last company I worked for I was with for 30 years. I've driven larger trucks in the ARMY as well as larger Utility trucks over my career, not saying that qualifies me by any means, but at least
I have some idea...... and I'm not taking the first offer, I'm in no hurry, not short of money, don't even need this job but want to do something, so here I am.
and Dennis, thanks for the encouragement, I've gone thru the first 3 weeks of school with a "98" average, looking forward to the "skills" portion of training...........
but honestly, why won't I make it out of training and why will my trainer hate me? I'm very laid back in my old age, I'm just disappointed in people with that "can't do" attitude.
I mean, after all, this is TRUCK DRIVING for GOD's sake, it's not rocket science........I know you've seen some of the drivers out there.........'nuff said.

STexan, thanks for that......after researching LEASING it doesn't sound good to me, but, if I like driving I will consider buying my own truck, then there's no "turnover" rate, I can fire them, right......
sounds like a much better plan than being fired at somebody's "whim".

    Ya'll have a great nite!

You go head and listen to the b/s bout Prime. Most saying crap have never driven for them. I have, and still do. Been here one year as of today. No plans on leaving. Is it perfect? No. Is it better than a lot of others? Yes. Good equipment, good miles (if youre willing to work), good pay (come in with a CDL and its $500 a week minimum for a certain number of weeks, then it goes to $600 MINIMUM so long as youre available for dispatch) Some have had bad experiences with Prime. I havent. Im very happy and content right now. Will I spend my entire career here? Probably not. Simply cause one day I want to get into HH/OS/OD, but that wont be for at least another year. Look at the Prime board on here. Thats where youll find those who actually drive for Prime, not those passing on stories theyve heard.
