Depending on the amount of time you've been out of the seat........
Most will require a refresher course at the minimum.
Your best bet is to hit the pavement in your area and speak to local companies face to face.

I've been out of the truck for 4 years after doing a 160 hour class and 1 year driving and CDL with all endorsements still current. I have talked to Hill Bros and Roehl so far. Hill Bros just wants 40 hour refresher while Roehl wants full 160 hours again.

I know that Lester Coggins Trucking (LCT Transportation) used to offer a program to send you out with a trainer if you've been out of a truck for a while. But since they have become part of SuperService I don't know if they still do that or not. You could check it out.

Some do, some don't. Some are real sticklers about recent driving, others aren't. I got hired on (no refresher, no trainer, no nothing) with a great mid-size company near Dallas after being out of truck for almost 2 years. I'm not familiar with any options for you in your area, but give the smaller and mid-size companies serious consideration before going to any of the really large outfits. Those who may be in need of drivers THAT DAY and your app seems "believable" and somebody there in a key position "likes you", may just say come on in and drug test and let's get you to work.

Thinking that as long as you can still verify your work history, that driver should not have a problem. Although, that driver cannot have any accidents within the last 5 yrs if they are at fault.

Beginning to look myself. Only thing is I've been out of the industry for 12 years now. I've run into mostly companies wanting me to go back and go to a school. Other little snag I've run into is that the company I drove for back in the '90's is no longer around so driving verification has become a pain

Thanks! I know I don't have them, but I'll defenitely check with the IRS...old accountant may still even have copies if IRS doesn't. Didn't even cross my mind to check with them.
