Hazmat endorcement help
I just passed my written tests for CDl class A and air brakes. I start class on Monday July 9th for 3 weeks. The next step is to study and work towards the Hazmat endorsement and was wondering if anyone had tips on how to study for it and what some main points are to focus on and really study. thank you in advance

Go to the DMV where you take the test for the Hazardous Materials endorsement, and read the section in the CDL manual for that particular subject matter, and read it as many times as it takes, until you feel comfortable in taking the test. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you.Last edited by devildawg89; 07.01.2012 at 08.21 PM.

The hazmat test is no more difficult than tankers, doubles, or the general CDL exam.
Don't fret over it just because of the term "hazmat"
It really is pretty easy.

I hope so it only took about a week for me to study for the general knowledge, combination vehicle, and air brakes tests. I tried to study for the Hazmat and just got confused but then again it was midnight when I started reading that section. Today I read some and it went pretty smooth

i got the best advice by a lady at the license bereau in utah. When studying hazmat also study tankers, because there are tanker questions on the tests. Its true.

I took it as well and got the same. I am coming over from the pest control industry and I understand that we aren't dealing with a lot of hazmat products but a lot of it just seems to be common sense I think the main part will be the numbers and specific requirements. I took the practice one on this forum and got 3 wrong and they where distance numbers, days to report, and specific fire extinguisher so i think if I study the section I should do ok

The majority of the test questions are the same practice questions you see in your CDL drivers manual at the end of each section. If you can answer all them you can pass. What I find with these online practice sites is they'll ask questions you'll never see again. They look in the manual and create their own questions. Though they are good for future knowledge and you should know it all, your main focus is passing. It's really not that hard.
I would get tanker also because you never know if you'll go that route. The two kind of go hand in hand and most states call it a X endorsement, hazmat and tanker combined. If I remember correctly it's like ten easy questions. Piece of cake.
