As to be in ok shape I think people say 30min 3-4 days a week I exercise everyother day when I shower. First I park as far from the ts as possible, walk in and see if there is a wait. If more than 30min I'll get my shower ticket then speedwalk/jog around the parking lot for 20min or so. Then grab my shower stuff and head in. If no wait I just get the ticket after my cardio. Once in the shower I cycle through pushups (5*10) sit-ups (5*25), squats (5*25), lunges (5*30 alternating legs), and 50-100 jumping jackes on each end of the workout. Follow this up with som streaching (sometimes in the shower). When all done I have had a good 40ish min workout and dont stink. Also once in the truck I spray my cloths down with fabreez before putting them in the laundry bag.
When I started driving I was addicted to french vanilla capachinos, but they are loaded with surgar. So I weened myself to black coffee, which is not bad. However, as I have become very cheap, I usally just fill up my water bottle a coupple times a day.
Also if time allows I like to stop every 3-4hrs get out and walk and streach for 10-15min.
Foodwise I am a vegetarian and mostly eat salads, and snack on nuts, carrots, celery, and sunflower seeds. To reduce the sodium I buy raw unsalted seeds in bulk from winco, and mix them into a spitz seasoned bag.
Hope that helps. We should start a support/accountability gorup like weight watchers for truckers.

But it was all for naught, unless you count it as "lesson learned". All of his food went bad because he didn't fill up on ice at the OC when he was there. So I went out and got him a thermostatic cooler. Fancy name for a small fridge. He was basically living on fruit cups and snack mix, since he ate the ham earlier in the week. I am against lunchmeat and I know a ton of you drivers out there eat it, but...
So I will go to the store today and get him some canned goods (another dislike because of all the preservatives and sodium) so he will have some "back up" food. I'll make him his favorite biscuits and sausage gravy over fried potatoes over the weekend so he won't feel too bad about his first week out! I know, I know-I'm making you salivate again. Maybe I will make up some videos on how to cook this stuff I send with him. It's not that hard or expensive. A small investment of a few hours will yield a week's (or more) worth of food. Just make sure you get a fridge to keep it all in...
I have a 12v cooler. My wife makes me a ton of stuff to take back out with me. I usually can't eat it all before it goes bad. I have this thing about not eating food that's been in the cooler too long.

I do eat a lot usually. The time I was referring to was when I had an idiot for a co-driver. It was very stressful and I didn't have much of an appetite. I also did not get enough sleep. I've corrected that problem.

Good luck in that marathon.
Yeah, I run when I can get a shower. Sometimes I have to pay for the shower if I'm at a truck stop where I don't have credits, but it's worth it to me, and I deduct the cost from my taxes, so it's not a total loss. Some weeks are better than others, and I don't always stick to my training schedule when it conflicts with my work schedule. I just do what I can. I have built up to 8 miles so far, and looking forward to more!

And what's with this "former" Marine crap? We may not be serving any longer, but we ARE Marines! OOH RAH!!!

I will be the first to admit, running isn't for everyone. Some don't find it enjoyable. Some have knee problems that prevent it. I just recommend that you do something. Whatever you can. I do know this, the more you enjoy an activity, the more likely it is that you will continue doing it.

These are both great shakes I would also like to recommend (Designer whey) There are very few bad additives compared to other brands.

Here is a list of things I pack for my husband. Boiled eggs keep for quite a while unrefridgerated about 5 days in mild weather and they keep for 3 weeks refridgerated or in a cooler. They are the Ideal 100 calorie snack with protein & omega 3-s just try to buy the cage free or Organic type since they are more rich in nutrients.

Trader Joe's is the best I would seriously drive for a few hours just to shop there every month. They are cheaper than any other health food store and there food is sooo good its always winning awards. Everything they sell is free of hormones and dangerous types of preservatives Here is some price examples.

    Organic Raisins 1lb $3.50
    Dried Mango 9oz 1.89
    Cage free eggs 2.79
    Sliced turkey 9oz 1.99
    Beef Tamales (2) 1.79
    Rice crispies 1.99
    Clam chowder (can) 1.49

    Bread and sandwich meat
peanut butter and jelly (low sugar type)
    Tuna
salad in a bag with dressing and croutons
    hummus
    olives and cheese
    boiled eggs
    String cheese
    yogurt
    fruit
    Whole rotisserie chicken
    trail mix and nuts
    dried fruit
    olive oil and figs
