They work for USX and if you REALLY want to know how it is I highly recommend you read it from the first day they started to current. So yes they are loving it and I promise you will really enjoy reading the blog. They write very well and they ALWAYS get through any challenges (and there are plenty) through humor and of course being able to vent to each other. I don't know if you have family around the country, but they do and their FM gets them to all their family at just the right times. I would say the ONLY thing I am surprised to hear is that their truck they got when the first started driving broke down a lot, which is puzzling since they got it brand new. They have a different truck now and it seems to be doing a bit better. I myself am looking to drive solo, but my best friend for over 30 years has been a truck driver for 12 years and may come join me at USX if that is where I decide to go...oh and btw...he lives in Gallatin and I may be relocating there from San Diego, CA. For me right now its between USX and Con-Way at the moment as I have a dog so my choices are limited.

If you want a link to the blog then send me a PM and I will get it to you. I'm telling you it is EXACTLY what you are looking for....and will answer all your questions and give you EXACTLY the whole truth and nothing but the truth....both the good and bad and from a "Team" husband/wife perspective as well. More importantly it will show you the RIGHT WAY to deal with the issues of the industry. So don't think it is only USX....its not....but no matter what company you choose it still worth reading their blog as I'm sure their experiences are very similar to what you will experience out there.

I have been researching companies for the past 3 months (and not even starting school till November), so if you need any more help let me know. I have printed out info and have organized notes on every one I contacted by phone.

    Good Luck,

They seem to really have it together.. and seem like nice folks..

What I have learned from them most is its all about ATTITUDE... If you have one with the office people or other drivers you aren't gonna last long and Paitence and kindness can work wonders..

I'm impressed that you knew exactly who I was referring to, so yes you are correct. I guess I don't need to have him PM me for the link now....was just worried that if I posted the link I might cause a server crash on their blog site...LOL.

We've been reading their blog. I've actually talked to Craig by email a couple of times. They're the reason that we've applied to USX. lol It's funny how many people follow them. Seem like SUPER nice people.

    Thanks for the advice everyone.

I will vouch for USX as a team company as well. They really kept us running. My co-driver was an idiot and I couldn't take that anymore so I dumped him. Now I'm a trainer there. If I ever find a suitable co-driver I would jump right back into teams.

I ran into a H/W team that I went to CDL school with. They ended up at Conway and loved it there. The pay is the same as USX. I think the difference is they get to "bank" their hometime. If they were out 8 weeks they get 8 days off.

I love this thread thank you NFE for started and all the other guys who recommend all those companies. May be I am not so articulate pardon me my head sometimes need to make a translation effort from my mother language.
The case is that I am in the same situation as NFE with this differences.
*I have already 6mo experience driving a refer located in Fontana CA, drove all the states.
*I wish to drive H/W but mine is some steps behind driving, she's going to make her writing test for a class C driver's license this thursday (wish her luck). So my expectation is to drive solo at the moment or only if I find someone whit I can drive with. Or I do not know if the companies you guys mentioned (like USX) will find me a partner.
Thank you all thank you HUNTER your a nice man compadre!!!

We're interested in SNI, USX, and a local company (MDS in Morristown, TN). I have reservations about USX. Can't say a specific reason, I just "do". SNI doesn't seem to be in any hurry to play ball. I'm still waiting to hear from the local place. I'm the kind of person that I want to keep the ball rolling, and not have a lot of gaps between steps here.

Can I get some advice on the companies I've listed? I've searched and done my homework, but it seems to be all the same crap over and over. "Company X sucks because I say so!", and "Company Z is the most greatest ever!!!" I know every company has unhappy drivers and happy drivers, good and bad, but can I get some real info?

What are good questions to be asking recruiters besides the normal pay, benefits, hometime kind of stuff?

    Thanks a ton.
I forgot to ask if you casually have the web site of the companies you mentioned? thanks two tons dude

We follow them too. You can learn SO much from them. I know I have. They truly are nice people and are also the reason we made the jump into OTR. Anne was brave. She went through her training with a male trainer and I admire her for that. My husband and I opted to train together rather than separately.
