whats out there for an 18 year old? After I graduate high school what do I do. Every job as a truck driver says you have to be 21 and have at least 3-5 years of experience. What can I do as an 18 year old right out of high school. I am going to get a job in high school now to save up for my trucking school and CDL. What companies hire 18 year old drivers. I know you cant drive interstate as an 18 year old, but you have to get experience somehow.

hickman, for an 18yr old, there ain't much around. Try a local farmer, they might give you a chance. Maybe get on with a Beverage company, as a helper, or merchandiser.

How about the military? You get the training and experience, plus 3 hots and a cot. I believe the process to convert a military drivers license to civilian is fairly simple. Plus if you change your mind about driving college money will be there.

My ex wife has 4 yrs of college. Still never earned more than min wage anywhere she worked. When my daughter was born, it was cheaper to keep my ex at home than to let her work. She made $96 weekly so she could play bingo. Day care cost $130 weekly just so she could work. College isnt for every one.

Federal rules dictate you must be 21 to drive interstate, so most of the jobs you are looking at are likely for Over The Road drivers. You can drive a semi for a milk hauler, a grain truck, and others that don't go out of state.....I am assuming you can get a CDL at age 18, although I do not know that for sure. I knew a 19 year old that had his CDL.
You can also get a Class B license and drive a straight truck....including refuse trucks, which are always looking for drivers, dump trucks, cement trucks, fuel truck, and feed trucks.
Good luck.
