There is no extension of the 70 hour rule in the regulations I know of. Can you cite the source for this?
Peoplenet has it, I never used it. I don't have the recent green book, mines the 2000 version.

Oh how fortunate then the regulations are available online.

Got to tell you though I consider myself fairly versed in those reg's and have no clue where you read that.

What you find out is, the companies want to tell you when that happens that you can do this particular feature on the qualcom and you can run for so many minutes to find a safe haven to take ten, or for this, or for that, but what they don't tell you is, that this is "company policy", this is not written in to the federal regulations, if you do this, (drive the extra minutes), you are still in violation of HOS and you can be cited for this, it will then be on your PSP record for three years, the only thing it really does is give you permission from the company to find that safe haven, or whatever they are trying to get accomplished. It happened to me, I lost one and one half hours trying to get axle weight legal on dry bulk load, then ran out of hours at consignee, (guess what, no parking allowed at consignee, for ten hours), so you are stuck with it. NO amount of prior planning will get you very far in these instances. Another issue with the elogs is what if you are between Memphis and Fort Smith when you run out of hours, after 5:00 p.m. you are not going to find parking, can't take ten on get on ramps in Arkansas, here again, NO amount of prior planning will help you. The list goes on and on with the elogs, just ask anyone who has been out there for a few years running irregular route truck load freight. they might be okay for the guys running the same route each day or week, but on the irregular route work there ARE going to be problems, but when you try and point these things out you are told to stop shouting that the "sky is falling". If you don't have experience, then you can't share experience.

THE FMCSA... IT BURNS... Jokes aside, they should they tell us when we can drive. I'm tired, I'll stop, I'm not, the wheels will keep turning. A car, can go aslong as they want, why should we have limits? Why should we be told what lanes to use? Why should we be told what roads to travel? I miss my first 3 years, everyone respected us. Now its, "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP."

I'll run legal unless I want to piss someone off.

    Irregular route? Check.
    Elogs? Check.
    Experience? Check.
Driven between Memphis and Little Rock after 1700?Check.

Grasping your point? Not so much.

I was trying to point out the difference between the old days, and the modern times with the new electronic age, in another forum a couple of weeks ago, and was told that I was shouting that the sky is falling. I disagree, the sky is falling with the advent of the electronic age, and the driver is going to be expected to bear the brunt of it, what I was talking about in this post about not Having experience, then not being able to Share experience, was refering to the other post, just stay tuned, that conversation will find its way here before long...sorry.

Sorry Mr. Dot, Scalmaster, I am not out of hours, I am using the 2 hour option my eobr allows.

    Sure driver, continue as before.
