Yes there are local gigs and some are fairly decent. With this economy though they are extremely hard to get into especially for a new driver. Though not impossible. I would not risk paying $6000.00 for school and all the time for training in hopes to go local right out of school. The chances of it happening are slim and you could put yourself in financial ruins with school loans, no job, a family to support and not knowing if you will even get a local job. If you are ok with possibly having to over the road until you get a local or putting in a year to get some experience than go for it. However, if you or your family absolutely don't consider that as an option than I wouldn't continue any further.
