I did school and training during winter. Then when I upgraded to solo driver I have the whole summer OTR before my first winter alone.

you know my school actually gave us a discount if we attended during the holidays so i did for some reason it only snowed one day during that time frame and of course it was the day i was going to the state test facility which they promptly closed for testing that day so i just took all my endorsements that day instead since i was already there anyway before they closed it up.

I doubt the weather will magically go back to normal. I think we will have mild warm winters from now on. Ever since 1996 it seems to get warmer every year and I do not see it stopping for no reason. I had trucking school during the winter and there were only two cold days. Just don't go in the summer when it is guaranteed to be scorching hot.

Yep, the planet is definitely changing! Well maybe less people will move to Florida now!
If you do have a choice though, it would be better to do your schooling and training during the winter months. Otherwise you aren't going to get any time with a trainer in bad weather or snow and ice. Will be a real shock when you hit your first blizzard and don't know what to do or get stuck and don't know how to throw chains!

winter but only because you have less fools on the road to deal with. Earlier today as I was stuck behind a slow truck and looked in the mirror to see endless 4 wheelers and I actually wished it was winter time.

learn on a dry road first. slick roads can be danerous even for experienced drivers. last winter i woke up about 4am to my co-driver driving 25mph on I-70. we pasted over 50 rolled trucks. he finally found a rest area to park and completed his post trip. after 20 mins, he looked at me and asked if i was going to start my drive shift. i laughed, said "no" and informed him that we had plenty of time on the load. i waited for the sun to come up and melt off the black ice. don't do something dangerous just for the experience. that is when you will find yourself in a bad situation and only yourself to blame for it.
