As the title states is there a way to get Internet connection in the truck without purchasing a mobile plan. Can you run of the Qualcom or GPS or is that something we have to take are of ourselves ?

No, if you want an internet connection, you'll have to provide that.

A few companies let you use their Qualcomm system to send limited text email messages to family members, but that's it. Most don't even allow that. Qualcomm charges carriers literally by the number of characters transferred, so you can imagine what they'd charge for Kbytes of net data usage.

That's what I do, turn my phone into a mobile hotspot and my carrier can't see the data I use. So it doesn't count toward my data limit.

Thanks all for your comments ! I guess I'll be hot spotting off my cell. How about at the Truck stops do they have WIFI if so how does that work ? Do you have to be inside, Do they charge you ? Will it work while In parking lot.
Im starting training in a couple weeks so was wondering if it's worth bringing the IPad.

Most truck stop chains have internet. Usually $2 an hour, $5 for 24 hours, $20 for a month or $150 for a year. It works in the parking lot and inside. I'm at the back of this ta and get full bars on their wifi. They have signal bridges in the parking lots.
