Nothing like a good bashing based off the logo on the truck, is there?

The key is to have thick skin, always stay calm (no matter how much a POS needs his or her daily thrashing) and just focus on your mirrors constantly. People are in such a hurry at all times. They'll pass you on your right-hand side even after they see your signal light. Always be aware of your surroungs. I can't count the amount of times my mirrors saved me from killing a four-wheeler that was too impatient.

my favorite preacher asks the question. What have we ever fixed by worrying?
you have made a decision now like at Las Vegas Roulette table LET IT RIDE
    and just see what happens
good trainers produce lousy drivers as well as bad trainers
it is all up to the student tolearn how to figure it out on his own
just like those college degrees they mostly taught you how to think on your own

I just started driving about 2 months ago for WEL. It has been a great experience and each day is a new adventure when it comes to finding shippers/receivers shifting in different areas, traffic, and of course backing. Take your time and don't worry about anyone else. I just make sure I get it in the door and don't hit anything.

It isn't easy to live on the road for some, but if you realize there will be sacrifice here and there, there will also be the realization of the perks from the job as well. I find you need to work hard and commit. It's something many people are unable to do. If a new driver has an entitled attitude to run local, be home every night, and make .44 per mile starting out they are crazy.

For me, the intrinsic value of seeing new parts of the country and appreciating the job and equipment makes up for the minute issues I could choose to complain about. I am happy I am driving and wouldn't change anything.

As said on another thread (wish I remembered to give the credit due)...

Being nervous is good. It shows you are taking the endeavor seriously!

Pay attention, at my orientation they told stories of people getting booted for sleeping in class!!!!

No alcohol! During orientation, on the road training etc....

Keep us posted how you are doing.

It is not too hard. You don't need an luck wished. But to be good you do need to put forth the effort. Study and pay attention and you will be a first seat driver in no time.
