23 yr old conviction
Was. Just chatting with a friend, he a applied to
a local logistic company, they will do a background check
Should he mention it or keep quiet? We were thinking
they only go back 7-10 yrs.

If you are asked about a felony conviction and you have one, you are required to answer yes. All felonies show but most companies have a 7 to 10 year policy. Others are by case reviewed. Now if it is not a felony then who cares. Do not hide it.

I had an employee that came in my shop who had a felony approx 25 years ago. Never been in trouble since. I couldn't hire him because he lied on his application where it said have you ever had a felony. We worked on government vehicles. I would have hired him if he didn't lie.
So don't lie, but read the application question closely. It may only ask in the last 7 or in the last 10 years.
