I want to get into trucking, but maybe my work record will be a problem.

I have worked for cash more often then not the last 10 years with my own small business. Is that going to stop me from being able to get into trucking?

You have to show where you were. Not how much you made. If you can prove you were doing such and such by bringing in your tax returns you will be okay.

Do you know an attorney, banker, doctor, etc? They can write a letter that says you're a good human being and that you were self employed. You might need to show proof of self employment by tax returns. This is if it is in the last three years non driving or last ten driving.

I know a female who was a stay at home mom and when kids got in their teens, she went driving and had no issues going to work.

Yeah, I think it might be difficult. I will have to maybe get into something else.

    Pffft.

The "rules" are for the big companies and their insurance providers. Smaller companies will judge more on talent and character.

Don't give up, if it is what you want...

Yeah, I want to be a trucker. I like to drive and I think I like to work by myself. I am just a little nervous if I spend 3 thousand dollers to get my license that I won't be able to get a job. My work history has not been that good in the past and I have done a lot of work under the table that I can't prove that I did.

Thats good to hear that some smaller companies would maybe give me a chance.
