    He must mean flagging. It's when you label a point in time without showing any time used. I used to flag a post trip inspection at the end of the day at the point where I go from line 3 to line 2.

    yeah, I meant flagging,sorry. does a driver have to stop and check tires and flag it if you are NOT hauling hazmat? thanks for your help. also if so when? hazmat is every 2 hours I think, but I don't know about non-hazmat loads

    Safety departments vary on what will be allowed to be flagged. For many pretrips and posttrips must be at least 15 minutes and cannot be flagged.

    My company does not want us showing a 15 min Pre-Trip. They require us to show a 15 min Post-Trip. We may, if we choose, flag a pre-trip.

    My carrier requires showing 15 minutes for posttrip and pretrip on e-logs . Here's what's irritating though . If the truck and trailer are already connected 15 minutes is permissible for inspecting both . If we are going to inspect only the tractor then bobtail and hook to the trailer a full 15 minutes is required for each .
    sometimes we are asked to spot a trailer at a shipper 10 minutes from the terminal . The tractor may be already pretripped returning from a run . Pretrip the trailer , drive 10 minutes , posttrip the trailer , drive 10 minutes , posttrip the tractor . Spotting the trailer pays $25 and we are only at the shipper about 20 minutes .
