Last week I took a job at US xpresss and got through Orientation. Then It took them two full days to get all the paperwprk done. That in itself was rediculous. I had to redo several forms because of their mistakes. After that was done, they had me sit in a rotten hotel in a crime infested neighborhood to wait for them to call me when a trainer was available. I live only 15 miles from their so they sent me home for the weekend. It is now 2 PM on the following Monday and they still havn't got back to me. I have called several times to let them know I still want the job. I had to quit my old job before starting orientation, and I don't have time for this. Should I start looking for another job? This is rediculous.

Waiting for a trainer is unfortunate, but common. You're likely to run into the same thing with any carrier. There's a lot of logistics involved with getting the trainer to you.

Sorry scorpio, but your best bet is to wait it out. By the time you get all the paperwork to another co, and they review and accept you, your USX trainer could have been there and gone. 'Be patient grasshopper, mediocre things come to those who wait...'

It has been another week and I can't wait much longer. How long does it normally take?

Dude if your still waiting, you need to start making phone calls and rocking the boat. stop calling the dispatch since they have proven not to care. contact their boss and tell him the story.

Is this your first CDL job ? If you already have the CDL you may have some options, maybe not. Depends on if you signed anything or not. Other things you may try, part time job not in trucking. Any truckstops near you, most of them love to talk, go sit and have some coffee. No experiance, a recruiter suggested to me, go to a truckstop and solicite to drive teams with an O/O, the pay may not be great but you may be able to get enough experiance to make a play somewhere else. Try a driveaway company, no trailers involved with this type of operation and a lot of them allow part time work. good luck drive55cat
