Just how much do those companies pay?

As most of you know, I skipped the starting companies as I believe starting at the top is the way to go. One of the things that the companies try is to keep us from talking to other driver about how much you get per mile. I am interested.

I started at Keystone Automotive Operation in Kansas City, MO. I made .45 cents a mile as a team split. Pay was $1150 per week. Same pay every week. Transport America paid me 41 cents a mile. I averaged 3000 miles a week 9 months and 2500 during winter. I was local with ACT and made $16 per hour 60 hours a week. Low wage easy job.

What are the starting wages at Swift? Werner? and such?

Why don't you just look them up on the computer? They spell out their CPM's on their web page. It's a joke but they do tell you.

A solo driver running either east or west with runs of 300 miles or more makes .25 per mile.

And being OTR most loads are over 300 miles.

Shorter runs pay more, but you have to figure on .25.
