I'm not a pro but I use an app called truck and travel. It does cost a few dollars but I use it every day. It shows where scales are, also truckstops, rest areas, walmarts, and low clearance locations. Also shows what amenities the truck stops and rest areas have. Gives the option of opening Google maps for a route to the location, has the phone number stored. I've used it many times to get around scales to get to a cat scale.

Well, head to the scale. Before you go look at where the end of the load is inside your trailer and set the center of your tandems at the end of where the load stops in your trailer. Tried to do a picture with text but forum won't allow it. Hope you get what I mean

Another good app to get is Truck Stop by Leigh Gagnon. Will list truck stops by distance from you or on by state/interstate. Gives you info such as parking space numbers, showers, TRIPPAK/transflo, # of fuel islands, restaraunts, nearby shops etc. also can find scales, Walmart, repair shops, tire shops, look at notes on wether truxk stop is dirty or not etc. it's VERY useful and cheaper then the truck stop book

Hopefully you have a tractor bag pressure gauge and know how to "guesstimate" drive weight and can extrapolate from there. Otherwise do what you have to do. A good (current) carrier atlas will show where the scales are with an arrow.

No problem. I like it because it shows the map just like Google maps but with little pins that pop up showing what's there. I use it to find out what truck stop I'm going to stay at when I shut down for the night along my route. I open it up in Google maps and it gives me the ETA. That's how I usually trip plan for the day.

I have on-board scales, drives and trailer, don't need to go anywhere but a fairly level spot in the shipper's parking lot.
