Werner is not that bad, I think it is an OK place to get your foot in the door. Your experience with Werner will totally depend upon who you have as a trainer. My advice is that if you get a trainer you don't get along with, request another one. No big deal, nobody gets along with everybody --- but I would say don't bad mouth your trainer unnecessarily, he or she is probably just trying to make a living like you. My other advice is if you are not a smoker, request a non smoker to train. It will take longer to get one but it will be worth it! I quit right before my training period ended, not because of Werner, but because I could (my wife got a job) and I learned that I really did not like OTR truck driving -- but I think Werner was OK by me. Like I said, your experience will depend totally on who you get as a trainer and that is a crap shot.

Well the economy is down the drain and as long as I can stay away from the unemployment line, make a paycheck good enough to cover my bills and have some money left to go on vacations and party hard in nyc once a month I'm happy as a dog with 2 tails. That's call living below your means

While in training if you get a good trainer Werner is alright, just expect your weekly pay to be about 300. and your schooling will not get paid until you end training. Which I completely agree with.
As far as pay goes, my other half partnered up with another guy with the promise of a signing bonus. They break it up as to a couple small payments at first then at the end. You will earn .32 per mile split between you and your partner, so .16 mph and this will last for 6 months. He just now over that hump so I am not sure what it is off hand, not sat down and worked it out, but I believe it is about .18 to .19 per mile.
I do know he has not complained about it really until the truck breaks down which is happening a lot lately, almost 2 months it has been down about 16 days, no more than 3 to 4 days at a pop. They will not exchange until it takes 5 or more days to fix.
Hope that helps.
