| No, I've since gone local. I run grocery product up in Northwest Indiana and Chicago. Roehl is a good company and they will take care of you. I have heard of some instances (like mine) where you have to wait awhile for a trainer. I also know they will start you out with less miles when you first start. Most companies that I know of do this. Even local companies will train you for a couple weeks and then let you do 4 stops, 6 stops until you up to 8-9 stops per day. Joe, Dave and Keith are some real good people up there in Marshfield. I enjoyed training with them. Best of luck! Keep us posted. Relax during the test. I called out signs and intersections, etc... it kept my mind off the tester as well as let her know the kinds of things I was looking out for while driving. |

| The original poster here is surely not the only one to have failed a test by running over a curb. Truck drivers do this regularly. In the real world it sometimes can't be avoided. The important thing to remember is when that can't be avoided, try to do it GENTLY.

| Thats right i am no longer disappointed with myself. For today on 4/17.07 i have passed my road test and now have my class a cdl license. Would i have wanted to pass the test the first time of course but it came to the same result which is that i have my class a license. I am not cockey i am just glad i got passed that part. Now the real training begins. tomorrow i will call roehl and set up the date i will go for my orientation. Once i do that i will give my job a two week notice. I am excited about starting my new career. I look forward to learning everything there is to learn. My advice to everyone who isgoing for there cdl test is be cool dont loose your cool. if you fail your test work on what made you fail and dont give up. visit this forum here because there are so many great people here with so much experience. when i was down this forum lifted me up. During my test because i havent been behind the wheel for a month I was a little rusty shifting gears but as i went i got better. I know i will improve more and more each time i drive. I also made sure i didn't hit no curbs. I too my time. what made me feel so good was when i parked the truck i had to back it in to park it and i did it in one shot and the truck was parked so straight. If anyone has any advice for me for when i go to my orientation my eyes and ears are always open. I know I still have lots to learn. But that is life because in life you never stop learning. |

| I am scheduled to test a week from tomorrow. So far my Driving trainer tells me I'm doing very well. I have no shifting issues anymore and I keep a watchful eye on the mirrors and pay attention to the traffic in front of me etc etc. I've even been across the Ship Channel Bridge a few times and no problems there either. I critique myself more then he does I believe. I am signed up with CRST and looking forward to a OTR career. Kids are grown and out of the house now and wife will be joining me as well down the road. I sure like climbing in that truck and driving. Anyone for King of the Mountain? |
