| Hey there Bearclaw. You mentioned "nerves" and high blood pressure. They can be connected. I am a RN. I have seen folks at home that were being treated for high blood pressure that always had high readings at the Dr. office but never at home. So (here is the cliche) RELAX!!!! All kidding aside- now days blood pressure can be managed. Just learn all you can about it and listen to your Doc and RN,. Later Last edited by lambee; 03.17.2007 at 08.53 AM. Reason: spelling |

| White Coat Anxiety I take a prescription diuretic to control my blood pressure, and therefore the DOT physical is required annually. That is an extra cost for my employer. Two years ago, my blood pressure was too high during the DOT. The doctor allowed me to retest after resting on the exam table in a dark room for 10 minutes. Then, I tested within the limits. |

| you will only hurt your chances for a better quailty of life if you don't take care of yourself now. sometimes a change in diet can help you too, like less fats, and eating more fruits/vegitables, and some little excercise like simple walking. but as i stated, go see your doctor. |

When I know my blood pressure is going to be checked...I actually start taking deep breath's to slow my heart down and breathe in and out just before they take it. It does work, which is a good thing for me |
