I am currently attending school. We have this guy at the school who is two steps away from being a super trucker. Anyways he told me that you cannot keep a tire thumper in the cab, because it could be considered a weapon.

I do not think this is true, but could somebody shed some light on this for me?

    Thanks,
    Craig

JMO, any item that you can pick up and use to hurt another person is a weapon, heck even a paperback book could be a weapon...LOL, hubby has a thumper and its in the cab under his seat so if its a no no I dont know about it.......

Here is the key in most states....

    1. If asked by law enforcement, what the item is, you say, "Tire Thumper"

If you say, "to beat people with" than your intended use could make it a weapon...

A cop tossed my car as a youth, before I knew my rights...
He was in my trunk and found a "fish Bat" which was there along with a small tackle box...he asked what it was for, even though it was monogrammed "fish bat" I smartly said, " for beating people", he promptly wrote me an appearance ticket for "possession of a weapon....

EB's right, as long as you don't convince any cops that it is a 'people thumper' you will be fine. I always kept mine close to the door, so I could use it for whatever I needed.

I had a real nice hammer that I kept in the cab; it was solid so the head of the hammer wouldn't go flying off. It can be used for pulling up nails in the trailers, and to hammer down 2 x 4s to hold freight in place....

Some states (from what I have read) even out law the possesion of chemical weapons, this includes mace.

It's just crazy. I know that you could just get roach killer in your cab but come on, pepper spray illegal!
