    Learn simple math?

ETA is when you'll get there, and PTA is when you will be available for your next load.
For PTA I figure 1 hour for a drop and hook, 2 hours for a live.
ETA is what my GPS tells me, plus time for fueling and breaks. If you don't use a GPS you can figure it at 50 miles per hour factoring in +10-15% of the loaded miles given by dispatch.

Available driving hours and what you have left with your 14 is simple subtraction from where you are now from where you will be then.

    Huh.

That is good advice, considering the OP's question.

PTA is often a driver discretion time/date thing and has nothing to do with time or distance to go. Say a driver needs to go by the house to get a doctor appointment and other personal matters tended to. The dispatcher will need you to give them a rough idea when you think you'll be ready to roll on a dispatch.

With todays massive use of Qualcomm, ETA is rarely not "assumed to be known" by the computer, but if the driver knows something the computer doesn't (breakdown, large weather system in the winter, etc) then the driver may need to send a message to put in a different ETA and possibly schedule a new appointment.
