| super 10 vs. straight 10 hey guys what is the difference between a super 10 transmission and a straight 10. which of these is harder to shift. thanks for and responses.  |

 Transmissions Super 10 is harder to shift at first, but gets easier as you go. S-10 has a lever on shifter handle like a 13 speed. Do a search on the Eaton Trans web site and it will talk all about it. |

| thanks pjw. trying to get info on this. the company im going with has automatics and super 10s. i dont want an automatic so it looks like im going to be in a super 10. |

| ill try to explain somebody else may be able to better but, straight ten has a high/low splitter in the front of the shifter with 5 gears on the low side and 5 gears on the high side. now the super 10 is a little harder to explain so bare with me a super 10 has the spiltter for the gears on the left side of the shifter instead of on the front. and you go through two gears before shifting to the next hole. In my opinion I like the super 10 better, but the straight ten is easyier and less expensive which is why bigger fleet companys use straight tens and nicer to learn on . | I like the straight better. Every once in a while if I forget what gear I'm in (especially in traffic) with the straight ten I can just grab the shift handle and feel what position it's in. With the super you can be in one of two gears--takes a little thought to figure out what gear you're in. When I'm in places like Atlanta--rush-hour I don't have time to think--just re-act! |

| Just curious what company? Admittedly ya get razzed for it, but the autoshift has me intrigued. Don't wanna be tied down to quitting if I don't like em, so a co' with both...... Super 10's are tricky at first, but NICE when you get used to them. Basically, you have a pre-select lever like regular, but the gears are 1st/2nd in the normal 1st gear position. What'd be 2nd in a regular trans, is 3rd 4th. same pattern all up through 10th. When you shift up, you just hit the clutch, pull it out and put it back in. (crap, does that sound dirty?)  |

| i got hired back to my old company after quitting they said sorry your going in the older long nose with the super ten transmissions, i told them thank you i like them older trucks much more power and less clutching with the super ten in traffic. i drove one in school and i liked it in downtown traffic |
