I just recently graduated from a CDL school and I'm torn between which company to go with. I'm looking for a good solo driver company. I have prehires from Schneider, US Xpress, and Knight Refrigerated. I was strongly considering US Xpress, but from what all I've read, I'm not so sure anymore. Can anyone give me an idea of their student driver programs/pay for each?
Need some honest opinions here..

See what Millis has available.

Millis will want you to go thru their school, they don't take students from other schools, if the OP doesn't mind flatbedding check out BTC

Each one should bend you over equally. With a bad mvr and work history you can't be too picky so. Give any of them a shot. They all will be there when you get sick and tired of whoever you choose. Also try to stay there a year if you already have a questionable work history. But that's easier said then done.
I wouldn't pick US Express because they give most of the miles to teams and they use the train. I wouldn't pick Knight because I think they are on sliding pay scale but the plus is they are Reefer and can keep you moving with dry and reefer freight. Not sure about Schneider but think they are a regional type carrier. Might be good if they keep you in a region where you live but probably won't.
This industry has went to the dumps the past few years so the margin between. Bad company and Great company is only separated by a few centimeters. Most of the starter companies are in the bad category or a few mm past the bad. So put in your time and maybe in a few years you can find a Great company. You never know you might stay with the starter company for the rest of your career. Schneider has lots of different accounts that can keep you around the house depending on where you live.TruckerNick, EZX1100 and Bumpy Thank this. -
Of those 3 choices, I would go with Knight Refrigerated.
Easier to stay moving with a reefer trailer.
