pretty much what rank said. swing out wide than turn. there is no digrams to driving. all those pretty pics in the cdl book can be used for a fire place. in the real world no 2 turns are the same no driving seniro is perfect like the book is. now is when you find out if you become a trucker or a wheel holder. judging on the fact that you are asking people for advise you are on the right track. just (and no offence to them) dont become a jb or swift wheel holder. meaning all you care about is yourself and you think you know it all....good luck

    Dibstr,
My post was a general, what will normally work, post is all.
As we know though, one size does not fit all when it comes to different situations.
Do I normally get away with doing what I quoted? Yes I do.
Does it work each and every time? Not at all.
Is there one rule of thumb that will work each an every time? Probably. That rule is know the theoretical way of doing something, then adapt it as needed. Never let me down in the 19 countries I have driven in, here in the USA included.
Moral of the story is to cover your rear, literally at times!

Inside lane, either turn direction, you have a curb with people on it on one side and four wheelers on the other side.

The outside lane has cars on the inside and usually a shoulder on the outside. Leaving room for going wide.
