hi im new to the forum but im trying to get a grant to go to truck driving school and i need 3 interviews from truckdrivers its 9 questions asking about the biz pretty much if anone can help a guy out here itd be much appreciated btw i need your name and company

3. What training is required (i.e software)?

4. What certification or license is required?

5. From which schools do you hire?

6. What do you feel are the satisfactions or advantages of the work?

i don't understand this. if its a grant like you say, then they already know its for a school.............

they should be asking you for YOUR personal information, like your social security number, your educational background, YOUR INCOME, if you are married or single, living at home or alone, rent payments, etc,etc.

that being said....

1) yes...(A)maybe, but why would they ask "with-in your company, if you ain't got the job yet....????? (B)maybe

2) driving a truck, backing up, turning, coupling the combination or trailer and tractor, paper work.

3) an approved school..........

4) CDL license

5) again, this makes no sense, it seems to be geared up towards the person making the loan/grant, not the individual

6) none

7) long hours, low pay

8 nearly none

9) can't say for sure, but maybe $30,000 per year

10), get a regular student loan and forget a grant, which will probably only be about 1/8th the cost of the entire course.

I have already filled out all the information that I needed including my SSN, finances, marital status and all of that. They gave me a packet and within it are 3 interview slips stating that I need to interview 3 people in the truck driving profession. I had to fill out a budget form, get the school to fillout a curriculum, get a drug test, a DOT physical and write a paper explaining my life circumstances of why I need the funding, what I need the funding for and what why im going to be marketable after the schooling. The only thing I haven't done is get the interviews, due to the fact I'm a bit intimidated to go over to the TTT truckstop and talk to drivers and see if any of them would answer the questions. I asked family members that are truckers and got some bogus answers, like to question # 6 I got "hauling ### to the truckstop to get a lot-lizzard, it might make them laugh", not too cool considering this is essentially a business proposition to get me funding to go to Southwest Truck driver training.

The grant process has multiple reasons. If you look at the questions the reasoning becomes more clear.

1. The applicant is forced to make sure they have spoken with someone in the industry and gained an understanding of what they will face. After that if they still choose to enter the field there is no opportunity of using the excuse "Well if I had only known".

2. The budget form is to not only help the applicant and granter make sure the applicant is not getting in over their head financially from pre-school to the period before they start drawing a regular paycheck.

3. The paper required providing the history, why the funding is needed, etc. id used to explain to the granter why the applicant can't fund it themselves and serves a very good second purpose. It demonstrates just how much the applicant really wants to obtain this grant. Many people will apply for grants but don't complete the process because they are not truly interested in the purpose of the grant. Instead they are just looking for another method of extending unemployment benefits or various other less than exemplary reasons.

It does have its purpose and helps at least somewhat weed out those not serious enough about the career change.

Why not try putting out a call, either by phone or posts, to some of the recruiters that post on this board? You can also go to [removed] BB and there are at least half a dozen recruiters posting there. They seem decent enough and willing to help and may be happy to. Who better to get all this info from than a recruiter who was also a driver?

it is for the WIA grant you are suppose to call trucking companies for thos answers. You can get info at your local job service
