i got into the idea of trucking a year ago. 9 months ago i came here and read posts and topics about roehl. 2 months ago i graduated CDL school. right now i am typing this post from the back of my International i9400 truck #6468, which is a Roehl company truck.

i am very pleased thus far with the service and support, everyone is so freindly and helpful, the training is very effecient and aideing. so i can say ive gone from start to finish in terms of employment and am very happy with Roehl Transport.

and before you ask, no i didnt go to Roehl's school, althou i hear its very good. i went to All-State Career College, which is 1 of 11 Accredited trucking schools in the nation. thats where i trained for my CDL and applied thru the school.

At least you got an International, I had 3 of them while I was there. There are good trucks much better than that Freightliner garbage. My last one was 3344 it was a great truck it was never in the shop and seemed to pull good for a Roehl truck. Glad to hear you like it, its all about what you make of it. Some of these guys wouldn't be happy anywhere.

Roehl "hoops"

So what you guys are saying is that if there are no major MVR issues, and your backround check sparkles, Roehl is gonna hire you? If not, what else? Also, how long once you give the go ahead does it take to find out you've been hired? Can you pick the date you want to start school?

I am also hiring on with Roehl after scouring this site and others for opinions on Roehl. Roehl quickly floated to the top as a decent choice for the inexpirenced driver. The were also highly recommended by the independent driving school I went to.

A positive cheerful attitude appears to be VERY important to them.

They would have allowed me to pick a start date if I had wanted to. I start Jan 2nd. I was told to expect delays between their evolution phases as a number of their trainers take time off on or around the holidays.

I was told an addendum to the application process would be done at orientation. I asked the recruiter what information was required so that I could bring whatever info I needed to complete the addendum. The recruiter said the addendum was basicly a statement that nothing had changed on my MVR, employment, etc. since I had completed the orginal application. You will also do the piss test at orientation.

I do not know what their deal breakers for employment are other than issuses on the MVR or criminal history. In my experience other deal breakers during employment applications are usually the result of not being honest about something.

There are a few of us on this board who used the info from this and that other board to decide to go with Roehl. We all decided to also go through their school. We have completed this now and are waiting to go out on Evo I in January.
Marshfield, WI is a beautiful place even if it is cold. The school facilities and staff were top notch. All the students I talked to were very pleased with their experience.
Everyone I know would do it again in a heart beat. That should be all you need to know.
How I will feel a year from now I can't say. But Roehl is a good place to start.
respects,
Dennis in se pa

A friend of mine is going to Roehl right about now. He spent nearly 8yrs with Schnieder(sp) and has had enough, now that they have forced him to leave his truck more than 3hrs away from his home when he takes home time. It isn't worth it to spend that much time and money just to get to and from work.

I noted mention of International being better than Freightliner. I can't tell personally, but I haven't liked either Int. that I've driven. Maybe I need to look at a new model. My "Frieghtshakers" have been good enough that I want another. Of course, being stuck for now in a Pete 387 might make anyone want a different truck.

I was offered a job at Roehl and will start my orientation soon. What should I expect? I have'nt had a ticket in 20years and have no criminal history. Will I get a dayoff to go snowmobiling this winter?

Depending on which fleet you're on, you should have plenty of days off. It's up to you to plan them properly and make sure they get you home.

I wouldn't worry about the background check. They used to have high hiring standards, but I've seen some of the people they hire now. Many seasoned Roehl drivers are leaving, they're advertising all over the place for new drivers, and they don't have the miles to keep the current drivers busy.

I was in the Gary yard the other day and I've never seen it so packed before. All 3 rows were full of trucks, probably close to 100 trucks sitting in just that yard. Keep in mind some of us choose to stop there, but some are stuck there waiting on a load. I prefer to stay in Gary because of its location and security. There's not any good place to park around Chicago, and if I have the choice of going through Chicago at 8pm or waiting until 6am, I'll go through at night and avoid the traffic in the AM.

I got a good nap in today, anyway.
