I just finished driving school and got my new CDL here in Iowa. The problem is I have never lived in Iowa before, I just came here for school. I had been living and working overseas (Japan and Korea) for several years before coming back to the USA to go to driving school.

I have a clean driving record in the state of California that I want trucking companies to be able to reference. I ordered an online driving record from the State of California and I can see a record of four years of driving with a clean record, are trucking companies going to be able to see it also?

They have this amazing invention called the Internetz! With it, everything they want to know about you is accessible... for a price. You'll be fine. Congrats on passing school!

congrats first on your new cdl,. and a close 2nd on leaving the communist republic of california. yes, with info provided from you that you held a calif drivers license, they will easily be able to get the dirt on you. or, in your case, the lack of dirt. MAKE SURE before you leave for orientation with your choice of company that they are ok with you having no verifiable records going back more than 4 years. dont wanna be sent home after taking that long greyhound bus ride.

    Who's "main man"?
By "there" I think you ment to write "their", but I still have no idea of who or what you are talking about.

Actually for most trucking companies it is even easier and free--they just contact their insurance carrier and viola!

Just got a letter from mine, they will no longer provide it based on advice of their legal counsel.

Seems there is too many other items showing up with a mvr to justify that liability for releasing it.

Things like criminal records, child support, employment etc.

Is there an agency that has access torecords nationwide? I am asking, who specifically do "they"(trucking companies, insurance companies) get their information from. Do they have access to 50 individual state DMV systems or is therean aggregating data base?

Generally you have to sign a release for your state of record. They submit that release to the state and receive a copy.

Google dmv for your state and it will tell you the process.

That is my problem, California has my record and it is 1,500 miles away. I sent a request to California for a certified copy of my record some time ago. The check I sent to pay the fee for the record has not yet been cashed yet. I am trying to figure out if there is another source that can supply the record.
