Even that varies from state to state. WY and FL are two that I know of that the state laws read along the lines of "10,000 lbs or more used in a COMMERCIAL operation" must have a CDL and follow all the other laws that pertain to big trucks.

I was attempting to answer it. As I said earlyer if t was illegal you couldn't varify it. SInce you now ofer the information that you will stay in the state then yes it ill help. You wil be able to show riving exerience and load securment experience. It can't hurt. Now the question is will it help you as much as tractor trailer experience and that answer is no. At least not if you go looking for a tractor trailer job after you turn 21. That said though it would be no less than say...dump truck. there is your answer Now quit being so cocky boy

Here are a few replys taken from the linked article supplied below. Hope this will help the issue. How to apply for a commercial driver license (CDL) A commercial driver license is a license issued in accordance with Federal Regulations that allows an individual to operate a commercial vehicle. You must be at least 21 years old to drive a commercial vehicle across state lines (interstate commerce) or to transport passengers or hazardous materials or wastes (intrastate or interstate commerce). You may drive for hire (including school buses) within California if you are 18 years of age or older and do not engage in interstate commerce activities. This LAW is also issued by ALL US states to my awareness. All the best, Matthew

Stay in state driving till your 21 if you get caught going over the state lines you wont be able to try to get your CDL back for 10 years. Just a helpful pointer!
