Hot Shot

Ok so heres my question. I got my cdl through a class about a weekago and went around knowing Im 18 and it would be harer to find a job than the average guy. So I put an application in at ever construction site i could find that said they were looking for drivers and i was up front i dont have any work experience that I cant right down. Most of them said dont worry about it b/c they have been needing drivers but havent heard from any of them. Now about an hour ago a guy that knows my dad and owns a hot shot company calls me and asks me if i would be interested in driving a 25' gooseneck in a 9 state area for 2000-3000 miles a week. Now more than likley Im taking the oppurtunity b/c frankly i need a job but will this be something that will help me go otr later on?

You CANNOT drive across state lines on a CDL under 21. You and the company owner will be putting yourselves in big trouble when caught.

18 to 21 is IN STATE only.

Any verifiable experience of cargo securement will not hurt when you do want to move to flatbedding.

he won't be able to verify it because t is illegal. Unless it is light enough to not need a cdl.

I'm only repeating what others have said, between the ages of 18 and 21, a CDL is only legal for use in your state of residence, I'm not aware of any exceptions to this rule.

ok this is gettin confused the question is this. Is driving hotshot for awhile going to hurt or help getting a joblater driving a larger rig either flatbed, dropdeck, or low boy. anything that requires me to strap and tarp to stay active. I have my class A liscense with air brakes and combination and know that i cant leave the state until im 21 just curious about my future is all. if its going to hurt me im going to try and find a better job while working this one.

You need a cdl to drive a hot shot. therefore you can not drive it over the state line and you said he wants you to drive it in a 9 state area? What the hell do you mean "how would it be illegal"

Now if that hot shot is registered for under 26k lbs. then you can drive it on a regular drivers license and in that instance you ould drive it over the state line but I doubt very highly it's registered that light. I had to log and take my dually and 26' gooseneck through the scales
