He's talked to Swift, but I'd like to hear some opinions from the board to help him start right.:biggrin_25515:

Skip the training companies entirely. Your son will not be happy and then he will be on the hook to the companies to pay the tuition costs.

Go to community college and get his CDL through them. He will then be free to go anywhere he wants.

Let me say it again---Avoid the "training" companies. Your son will not be happy. Ignore me if you like, but if your son wants to be successful he will listen to this advice.

I would steer clear of swift, cr england, crst ect. I would try Roehl, TMC or Maverick. I started at Roehl good compant to start with.

Swift will not hire your son unless he is 23 or was in the military sorry if they lied to him. It's gunna be a luck of the draw in my opinion if he gets a good dispatcher that likes him he will get miles and they will get him home when he wants to get home and even recommend him for dedicated and local accounts. I started with sni they treated me good but I didn't have enough experience to be local with them so I left

Cre, definitely. They didn't train me and tossed me out when I couldn't drive. Roehl u have to have 500$ up front, great company though. Heard horror stories about crst, and they're team only. And some of the "better" companies, prime and central, wouldn't even take me cuz of cre. Swift took me and said they'd train me right, and they did. Thanks to swift I have my CDL. I wouldn't have it without them.

Are you sure about that? I know Swift used to hire 21 year olds unless they upped the age. Personally though I'd tell your son to go to college and forget trucking. I wish I listened when I was 21.

Don't know why your so against training companies. You won't be "free to go anywhere" with a cdl and no experience.
